The most imperative problem for Russian and cross-cultural families with
children living in the US is to sustain and to teach Russian language and
culture, while being outside of Russia and the Russian language environment.
AARCE is determined to promote children and youth education in Russian
language in the US and to provide organizational, informational and grant
support to American Russian-language schools, studios and enrichment centers.
Creative Art Studio (http://www.creative-art-studio.com)
Creative Art Studio currently has 120 students attending on a full or part
time basis, which makes us the biggest Russian school in U.S. In the four
and one half years since the school opened, we have educated over 700 children.
Our school also gives recent immigrants an opportunity to adapt more quickly to the
American school system as well as their new lifestyle.
Shalom Education Center (http://www.shalomdc.org)
Dedicated to nurturing Jewish identity and Jewish literacy within the Russian Jewish community in the
Greater Washington area, the Shalom Center received support for their b'nai mitzvah program.
